Montagne I, 2019. Oil and acrylic on canvas. 30 x 40 inches.
Serie Montagnes, 2019
This series of paintings captures the raw power and majesty of mountain landscapes, where nature seems both eternal and ever-changing. The works feature rough, fragmented mountain textures, cut against vibrant, tumultuous skies. The juxtaposition of dark tones and bright colors, such as fiery reds, intense blues and vivid greens, reflects a contrast between the stability of the rock formations and the dramatic movement of the sky.
The pictorial techniques, based on the thickness of the material and graphic structuring of the elements, give the works a tactile, almost sculptural dimension. The use of deep blacks and sharp contours underlines the strength of the reliefs, while the expressive skies bring an emotional dynamic that varies between serenity and chaos.
“My landscapes aim to make matter felt — to give form to the wind, the silence, and the crash of sky against stone.” Guimond
